ABOUT
Loes van Reijmersdal, born in the Netherlands (1995), lives and works in 's-Hertogenbosch (NL). In 2021 she obtained her BFA at the Art Academy St. Joost School of Art&Design, 's-Hertogenbosch (NL).

As a multidisciplinary artist I move between drawings, graphic techniques and installations – inspired by the wonder, lowness and power of nature. Lines, contrast, the play between black and white and colour, and symbolism are recurring elements in my work. Especially flowers with a special place in: for me they represent the circle of life.

Where I once controlled my creative process, I now find myself in an experimental phase in which play, intuition and rediscovery are central. I try to capture the sparkles of life, to make them tangible and visible in images that invite reflection and recognition.

With my work I want to contribute to a whole larger – in which art is powerful as a connecting force between the individual, well-being and society.

And together with Naomi King, they form the street artist duo Zoet & Frizzz.

ARTIST STATEMENT
As a multimedia artist, my work includes graphic techniques, murals, drawings, photography and spatial installations.

Flowers have a symbolic value for me of strength, comfort and inspiration. I use them as a metaphor for the circle of life, from growth process to transience. The stages of the flower are translated into image and material. The choice for permanent or temporary work marks transience or sticking to one moment. Dynamic patterns, contrasts and opposites show a process of uprooting, withering, restoring, growing and blooming. An appropriate format, in which physical actions are paramount, require delay and trust in the process.
I prefer to wander where the wind or sun takes me. Leading by wonder of nature. Like the 'uprooted' flower, I look for the right soil to root and bloom. Through my visual work I want to take you along to make this tangible and shareable.

Love,
Loes
